When Things Go Wrong

What do you do when a project you’re working on with somebody else turns out all wrong because he doesn’t see it the way you do?  It may be time to realize not everything can turn out your way, and it may be time to give in.  We sometimes defer to a higher power and call it the will of God.

If I see that no harm comes from it, why not?  We have to wait and see, and that may be the more constructive way.  The world is full of ways I did not notice.

Juan Diego

Call me Juan Diego.  He is the acolyte of the Virgin of Guadalupe, an advocate of indigenous and Hispanic Americans who attracts more people to her site outside Mexico City than any of the world’s religious shrines, regardless of denomination.  Thanks to the prayers of Juan Diegos like me, Communism has not gained the upper hand in the Americas (good-bye Karl Marx and Bernie Sanders).

All it takes is a rosary, that prayer advanced in Fatima, Portugal, for the peace of the world since World War II.  But we’re a reluctant generation, and a doubting one, compared to the Bolsheviks.  Let’s join the millions of Americans, north and south, who still pray.

If you’re not a Juan Diego, or a Therese of Lisieux, know that Juan Diego is now St. Juan Diego, with St.Therese of Lisieux

Finding Out

While I was teaching, I noticed that those students who had a spark, a talent, seemed to get more out of the lesson than those who didn’t.  From that information, is it safe to paraphrase a law of Nature (not of Marx) that those who have get more, and those who don’t are in danger of losing what little they have?

Some of the Laws of Nature seem unfair, and that’s what goaded Karl Marx to invoke his short-sighted countermeasures.  Sure, countermeasures are in order, but they have to come from the person involved.  If you want to become rich, learn the measures and courses you have to take.  Don’t demand that I pay you.

Communism’s biggest mistake is losing the Creator who knows how it all works.  That is the road to doom!

Embarrassing Moments

We sometimes find it necessary to say something embarrassing.  What do we do then?  If it is the kind and moral thing to do, why, don’t slip out, but do the brave thing and speak it; time may justify you.  If it is merely a hurting remark, nobody will know you left it out of your conversation.

St. John the Baptist promised the Holy Spirit, which brings courage, to all who follow Christ, and that means no doubting.  Say the right thing and be at peace.  To be mentally sane takes the will to do the right thing without regrets.

There, I’ve said it.  That’s it.  I’m sorry if I offended you, but tomorrow’s another day.

Paean to Blueberries

Bueberry pancakes are one of God’s gifts to the world.  To start the day with a stack of them and some coffee bodes well for that day.  Of course, some Vermont maple syrup completes the trio.

We take many such gifts for granted, and little realize that we can show thanks with a good deed or even a prayer.  It is one of the amenities of life in Western Civilization and it would be great to find the necessary self-rising flour in our pantry.  That makes a short cut of the work.
