The Lord judges the way we don’t. A classmate of mine, Jim, has a slight heart problem, as do I, but he’s up at 5:00 a.m. every day and drives to work for a construction firm in the heart of NYC. Talk about being blessed by the Lord.
I couldn’t even get up at that hour, leave alone drive my car. I mean for me eighty-eight years is no e’en song, no matter how glowing the sun. The Lord responds to what we give, but he values things differently. I’m with him, no matter the cost.
I never heard from the boy whose life I saved. It was my first day as water front director in a private day camp when I noticed two of the lifeguards had pulled a small boy of color from the pool, and he was lying on the pool deck, unconscious. I hesitated not a moment, and applied mouth-to-mouth resuscitation right away.
The lad revived, and the college-age lifeguards took over, sending him to the infirmary to recover fully. I was so happy to save someone’s life I never questioned the lifeguards about the details of that rescue.
I did thank God that I’d been effective in my job, and the good Lord kept me busier than I anticipated.
The Quantum double slit experiment that gives you a different result when a human being watches it tells you something. This whole universe was created to get a response from a superior animal—a human being.
What are you going to do when some of them are not smart enough to recognize that the non-material is the basis for the material? Do you recognize that non-material is another word for spiritual? If you do, not all is lost.
To make sure I don’t miss things like that, I keep open my communication with God through prayer. Sure, I mostly ask, but hey, God never said he minded.
Physicists, including Stephen Hawking, have recently come to admit the non-material basis of matter. But they will not acknowledge the primacy of Jesus Christ or the universal God of the Hebrews.
Yet They propose a matrix, a Quantum world of virtual reality, of which select virtual happenings come into being to entertain and bemuse us, and cannot be proved to exist. This is the equivalent of an infinite number of parallel universes.
For some reason the spiritual world hinted at in the apparitions of Lourdes, Fatima and Guadalupe frighten them away, and they will not acknowledge a basis that is other-worldly.
We plan something our way, and somebody else find a “better” way. It is the way of old age, but millions go through that every year. I “offer it up” as Catholics have done ever since I was a kid. It is a small sacrifice done as the Virgin requested at Fatima.
With old age comes the realization that I don’t have all the answers, and I don’t even have all the questions. I need Holy Spirit inspiration on that one. So we go with what we have left in the fields of memory and alertness, which is less and less each month.
What I do have is faith in a better day. I know that’s coming as sure as the fall follows the summer. I pray that I won’t be distracted.
