India is suffering the aftereffects of a massive onslaught of the pandemic, with thousands of orphans potential victims to child abusers.  India once had a Mother Therese, and her followers are still doing good, but what are they among throngs of confused Hindus, with a leader of the same secular calling?  What I mean, are there any Hindu orphanages, hospitals, helping organizations?  The government has already failed on this one.

Western Civilization has not had its desired effects on India, according to my estimation.  Politically, India has made the mark, but culturally, it is still behind.  We, in the West, have failed too.  Look at Brazil!  Where are the people who sponsored that magnificent statue in Rio?  It is not right to look the other way, but what can you do with leadership like Brazil’s?

Humanity is what it is, but it doesn’t give up.  Mother Therese’s followers in Calcutta will continue their solitary and salutary way, and some day there’ll be measurable results.

Some of these newly-sprouted organizations, like BLM, say we’re not only all equal, but we all deserve the same government pay, the same outcome for our lives, everything.  Whatever happened to freedom, freedom of opportunity?  Why are we different as individuals?  Why do some of us have talents, make different contributions to humankind?

Where’s the incentive?  Where’s the striving for the prize?  Do they want to redo humankind?  What’s the end purpose of rioting?  If your family doesn’t give you the tuition money, do you harm them?

I don’t pretend to have all the answers.  But while injustices do exist, I’d like to work on them, on a personal level, and not leave it all up to a communist or socialist dictator.

For some of us, a marriage is not good until it passes the test of time.  But there are signs in the beginning that give a clue.  For instance, sexual attraction is not enough; there should be signs that each is willing to put the other first.  That’s real love.  Then there should be agreement on the important issues of life; it helps if they are both of the same religion.

One of them is the leader of the pair, at least in the major decisions, like children.  And of course, children usually cement the bond, at least when both marrieds are mentally sound.  There are many exceptions to the rules, but only if the marriage is firmly founded on God.  Who else but the author of life can insure success?

My advice to newly marrieds?  I say, as they say in boxing, roll with the punches.

I’m getting great at losing things.  The last thing was my keys.  And before that, I lost my i-phone, a present from my son.  As  usual, I turned to the Holy Spirit for advice.  I told Freddy, and he suspended  the cell phone operation, with an option of renewing the subscription if the phone was found.

Today, I looked in the top drawer of my  bureau, and what did I see?  There they were, neatly side by side, my keys and cell phone.  I tried to reason how they got there.  Veronica, one of the cleaning ladies, had found the keys before, and though I didn’t tell her about the cell phone, she found it in a forsaken place, in my study with the keys, again, and put it where I’d find it.  It’s good to have honest help.

I try my darndest, what with dementia looming, and  I’m still grateful for our Judeo-Christian civilization.

Humankind has been faced with this problem from its earliest experiences; the adulterer sees his paramour as a good, Eve sees the snake as good, and Little Red Riding Hood sees the disguised wolf as good.  The modern young people, thinking we should have a direct democracy like the Greeks, want to abolish the electoral college and the republic which has stood since George Washington’s time.

They see Socialism, or its failed counterpart, Communism, with their accompanying atheism, as the answer to today’s political problems.  A good documentary on this was produced by The Epoch Times.

Chinese Communism is repeating the mistake of Russia, trying to eliminate Christianity and Judaism, the basics of Western Civilization.  It seems a counterproductive move.
